Below is a brief description for each committee represented
in BOMA Baltimore. All members are encouraged to participate
on a committee. It is the best way to get the most
from your membership in BOMA. If you would like to
join a committee, please contact the chair directly.
General questions may be directed to Jennifer Thornton
at BOMA Baltimore - (410) 752-3318 / boma@assnhqtrs.com.
Associates
Chair: Tina Urquhart
410-727-4569 / tina@charmcityconcierge.com
Co-Chair:
Mark Lucas
410-265-6677
/ mark.lucas@brickmangroup.com
The
Associate Committee is headed up by the Chair and
Vice Chair, who are elected by the Associate members
at their annual meeting every two years. They work
to make sure Associate members gain the exposure they
need to make membership worthwhile, and they manage
the Associate Fund, which provides marketing opportunities
for the Associate members as a whole.
Building
of the Year
Chair: Steve Enslow, RPA
(410) 456-9840 / smbje@aol.com
Two
subcommittees form the full Building of the Year Committee:
Judging and Event. The Judging Sub-Committee reviews
and evaluates all of the building award entries in
a two phase process consisting of a building tour
and management team interview. This is a very intense
committee and requires knowledge about commercial
property management or a very specific aspect of what
makes a building exceptional. The Event Sub-Committee
plans and executes the Building of the Year Awards
Dinner. The group selects the location, sets a budget,
works with all vendors, develops the program, etc.
The majority of the work for this event is done from
May - November.
Community
Service
Chair: Erika Palmer, RPA
410-244-8666 / epalmer@manekin.com
This
is a very active committee that runs BOMA's charitable
projects, including Sandtown Habitat for Humanity
Days of Service, annual school supply drive, food
drive for Thanksgiving, children's "mitten tree",
and other projects as needed. The members of this
committee develop promotion for the events, sometimes
solicit sponsors, coordinate volunteers, etc.
Education
Chair: Lucy Price
410-752-4285 / lprice@collierspinkard.com
The
Education Committee sets up two or three 15-week courses
each Fall and Spring as part of BOMI Institute's designation
programs for RPA, FMA, and SMA. Committee members
assist in determining the courses needed, finding
instructors, securing a location for the classes,
and promoting the designation program. They also help
set up quarterly roundtable breakfast meetings.
Legislative
Committee
Chair: Stanley C. Meros
410-788-0100
/ smeros@sjpi.com
Legislative
Committee members work with BOMA Baltimore's lobbyist
to identify issues affecting commercial real estate,
communicates the issues to the members, coordinates
political contributions through the BOMA PAC, etc.
Marketing
Chair: John Pezzulla
443-573-4464 / j.pezzulla@sber.com
Marking
Committee responsibilities include public relations
efforts, developing sponsorship opportunities and
programs, overseeing the continuing development of
the BOMA Baltimore web site and the online newsletter.
Membership
Committee
Chair: Open
The
committee is in charge of all membership development
and retention efforts, including following up with
non-renewals, targeting prospective members, welcoming
new members, developing membership materials, and
enhancing benefits.
Monthly
Programs
Chair: Lynn
L. Berger, RPA
410-715-7206
/ lberger@libertyproperty.com
This
group sets the schedule of monthly programs and networking
events. They determine topics of interest to the association
members, obtain speakers for the events, and act as
a liaison with the speakers. Input on event locations
is also requested.
Engineers
Committee
Chair:
Chris Healey
410-792-2043 / chealey@gfmorin.com
This committee develops and coordinates bi-monthly
education and networking sessions for building engineers
from member companies.
7
Point Challenge Committee
Chair: George Openhym, RPA
410-347-7525 / gopenhym@harborgbaltimore.com
In
July 2007, BOMA International launched the Market
Transformation Energy Plan and 7-Point Challenge
to reduce energy consumption in commercial buildings
by 30 percent by 2012. In addition to asking individual
member companies and buildings to sign on to the challenge,
BOMA local associations have formed local committees
that will work at the local and state level to implement
responsible government programs and voluntary incentives
to facilitate market transformation.
